pvc-3 : spikes delay estimate?

Posted by Giacomo Cocci at December 02. 2009

Hi,

I'm a biomedical engineering student, I downloaded the data and started processing them in order to find a complete set of frames of the cells spatiotemporal RF.

The results obtained with natural scenes (in cats) are pretty good, considering the test relatively short duration.

Obviously the spike train has a certain delay, relative to the stimuli, and as I didn't find any specification I'd like to ask to the experimenters if they have an estimate of it (it should be few milliseconds).

Thank you in advance

Hi Giacomo,

I am not sure what you mean by "obviously the spike train has a certain delay". Are you referring to the average physiological response delay of V1 neurons (about 30ms from stimulus onset), or are you asking if there is a delay in the spike time vs. stimulus frame time timeseries? If the latter, there is no delay, the two datastreams are synchronized with a precision of 40us (25kHz sampling rate).

Best regards,

Tim.

Thank you for the response, in fact I was referring to the physiological delay.

best regards
