About cai-1

Information about the data including data types, experiments, format of the data.

Summary of the data

This data set contains hard won calibration data for in vivo imaging data using a variety of genetically encoded calcium indicators. Spikes were recorded independently for imaged neurons. Specifically, the data set contains simultaneous imaging with loose-seal cell-attached recording in GCaMP expressing neurons.  The data are described in the following two publications:

Akerboom, et al., (2012). Optimization of a GCaMP calcium indicator for neural activity imaging. The Journal of Neuroscience 32(40), 13819–13840. doi:10.1523/JNEUROSCI.2601-12.2012

Chen, et al., (2013). Ultra-sensitive fluorescent proteins for imaging neuronal activity. Nature, 499(7458), 295–300. doi:10.1038/nature12354

Format of the data

Processed data is stored in MatLab files that are in the standard Svoboda lab format (described in https://crcns.org/files/data/alm-1/Svoboda_lab_data_format_general.pdf. For each type of data, a MatLab script which plots data from a trial are included. Raw imaging data are stored as tiff images. Details of the data format are given in document listed at the bottom of this page.

Conditions for usage of this data in publications

If you publish any work using the data, please cite one of the publications listed above and also cite the data set in the following recommended format:

GENIE project, Janelia Farm Campus, HHMI; Karel Svoboda (contact).  (2015).  Simultaneous imaging and loose-seal cell-attached electrical recordings from neurons expressing a variety of genetically encoded calcium indicators.  CRCNS.org.

The above citation uses a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) which is assigned to the data set.  The DOI was created using DataCite (www.datacite.org) and the California Digital Library, "EZID" system (ezid.cdlib.org).
