About aa-3

Information about the data.

Summary.

This data set contains multiunit recordings of neurons in the thalamic nucleus Uvaeformis (Uva) of adult male zebra finches (Taeniopygia gutatta) during singing (n=3 birds, >90 days post hatch). In addition, we have included song recordings from adult birds pre- and post-lesion of Uva. The results are reported in:

Danish HH, Aronov D, Fee MS. Rhythmic syllable-related activity in a songbird motor thalamic nucleus necessary for learned vocalizations. PLoS One, (publication accepted)

The methods that were used to collect this data are described in detail in the following protocol:

Okubo TS, Mackevicius EL, Fee MS (Cold Spring Harb Protoc, 2014 Oct 23; 2014(12):1273-83)

Format of the data.

Neural response data are stored in binary format which can be converted to Matlab format. Sample Matlab scripts are provided to convert and plot the data.  Audio files of produced sounds for both pre and post lesion are stored in .wav format.  Details are provided in the data description document linked to at the bottom of this page. Total size of the data set is about 8.8 GB compressed.

How to download the data

Getting help using the data.

If you have questions about using the data, post them on the forum for using data sets.  Also see instruction for consulting the experiments in the README file.

How to cite the data

If you publish any work using the data, please cite the following publications:
