About ssc-5

Information about the data including data types, experiments, format of the data, how to download the data.

Summary of the data

These experiments probe neural dynamics in the mouse vibrissal primary somatosensory cortex (S1) and its relationship to active touch. The data contain 52 juxtacellular loose-seal recording sessions from 21 adult mice performing a tactile decision behavior. Juxtacellular loose-seal recording are critical for recording in L4 because they fire synchronously and sparsely in time. The data also contain a complete record of the sensory and motor variables used to solve the task recorded at one millisecond resolution. The following paper describes the experiments in detail:

Hires SA, Gutnisky DA, Yu J, O'connor DH, Svoboda K. Low-noise encoding of active touch by layer 4 in the somatosensory cortex. eLIFE. 2015;4 PMID: 12701550 doi: 10.7554/eLife.06619

Format of the data

The data is stored in Matlab files. The structure of the files are described in the document linked to at the end of this page. Total data size is about 2.5 GB.
