About ac-3

Information about the data.

Summary of the data.

The data contain dense single-unit recordings from the primary auditory cortex (AI) of rats anesthetized with ketamine/xylazine during the presentation of dynamic broadband stimuli. The data also includes the stimulus parameters for the two types of dynamic broadband stimuli used. The data was used to produce results described in the following paper:

Jermyn Z. See, Craig A. Atencio, Vikaas S. Sohal and Christoph E. Schreiner. Coordinated Neuronal Ensembles in Primary Auditory Cortical Columns. eLife (in review)

Format of the data.

Data is stored in matlab format.  Scripts are provided to facilitate using the data. Total size of the data and stimuli is about 730 MB.  Details about the data are described in the document linked to from the bottom of this page.

How to download the data

In order to download this data, permission must first be given by the contributors.  To get permission, email "Jermyn See" <> and "Christoph Schreiner" <> and cc "".  Once permission is granted, the data may be downloaded from:

Getting help using the data.

If you have questions about using the data, post them on the forum for using data sets.

How to cite the data

Publications created through usage of the data should cite the data set using the following:

Jermyn Z. See, Craig A. Atencio, Christoph E. Schreiner (2018). High-density extracellular recordings from the primary auditory cortex in anesthetized rats listening to dynamic broadband stimuli.

The above citation uses a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) which is assigned to the data set.  The DOI was created using DataCite ( and the California Digital Library, "EZID" system (
