About hc-13

Information about the hc-13 data set.

The hc-13 data set contains recordings from hippocampus regions CA1 and dorsal medial prefrontal cortex (PFC) from rats performing a foraging task. The data was used to determine relationships between activity in hippocampus and PFC neurons and learning and decision making. The main behavior performed by the animal during the experiments was an alternate choice task in a foraging context. The data was used to produce results described in the following paper:

Jai Y. Yu, Kenneth Kay, Daniel Liu, Irene Grossrubatscher, Adrianna Loback, Marielena Sosa, Jason E. Chung, Mattias P. Karlsson, Margaret C. Larkin and Loren M. Frank. Distinct hippocampal-cortical memory representations for experiences associated with movement versus immobility. eLife 6, doi:10.7554/eLife.27621 (2017).

Format of the data

The data are stored in Matlab files, with different files used for the different types of data. Details are given in the data description document listed at the bottom of this page.  Total data size is about 8 GB compressed.

Conditions for using the data

The data was collected by Dr. Jai Yu with assistance from Daniel Liu and Irene Grossrubatscher. Any publications made using the data should cite the data set using the following:
