About hc-4

Information about the hc-4 data set.

Summary.

The data set contains raw data that is associated with sessions in the hc-3 data set, but not included in that data set. The relationship between the hc-3 and hc-4 (this) data sets are as follows:  In the hc-3 data set, for each electrode placement, the data set typically contains only a subset of the sessions recorded (usually sleep sessions are not included), and also no original broadband data is included.   The corresponding data in the hc-4 data set includes all the sessions and the broadband raw data used to detect putative spikes, as well as all of the derived data used to do the spike sorting.  Because the broadband data is very large, so far, data corresponding to only one electrode placement are included.  (The data used for the top level directory ec39 in the hc-3 data set).  More may be added.

Format of the data.

The format of the data is the same as for the hc2 and hc3 data sets (see links to documentation files at bottom of page), except that for spike sorting, data from all sessions recorded using the same electrode configuration are concatenated together.  Some additional files are included to allow determining which parts of the data correspond to different experimental sessions or animal behaviors.  Details are described in the document crcns-hc4-data-description.pdf (link at bottom of this page).

How to download the data.

The data may be downloaded from:

https://portal.nersc.gov/project/crcns/download/hc-4

A CRCNS.org account is required. See the download page for more instructions.

The data may also be downloaded from the Buzsaki lab website at:
https://buzsakilab.com/wp/2018/10/29/public-datasets/

Getting help using the data.

If you have questions about using the data, post them on the forum for using data sets.

How to cite the data

Publications created through usage of the data should cite at least one of the publication listed for the hc-3 data set, and also cite this data set in the following recommended format (NEED TO UPDATE):

Mizuseki, K., Sirota, A., Pastalkova, E., Diba, K., Peyrache, A., Buzsáki, G. (2014)
Extracellular recordings from multi-site silicon probes used for clustering of neuron responses in rat hippocampal and entorhinal regions. CRCNS.org.

The above citation uses a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) which is assigned to the data set.  The DOI was created using DataCite (www.datacite.org) and the California Digital Library, "EZID" system (n2t.net/ezid/).
