About hc-6
Summary.
The CRCNS.org hc-6 data set contains data recorded in the lab of Loren Frank at UCSF. The data was recorded from hippocampus regions CA1 and CA3 (or MEC and CA1) from nine male Long-Evans rats before, during and after the animals performed an alternate choice task in one of two W-shaped tracks. The data was used to determine relationships between activity in hippocampus neurons to information representation, learning and decision making as described in the following papers:
Format of the data
Data from each animal is stored in a single directory. Data are stored in Matlab files, with different files used for the different types of data. The types of data are: raw position, interpolated position, spiking data from clustered units, task information, tetrode information, anatomical location of each recorded cell and local field potentials. Details are given in the data description document listed at the bottom of this page. Total data size is about 22GB compressed.
Conditions for using the data
These data required years of effort to collect, and it is the lab policy that anything published using these data list the person who collected the data and Dr. Frank as authors. Please contact Dr. Frank if you would like to discuss this ([email protected]). The data were collected by Dr. Mattias Karlsson (animals Bond, Frank, Conley, Dudley, Miles and Ten) and Dr. Margaret Carr (animals Coriander and Five). Also, any publications made using the data should cite the data set using the following:

The above citation uses a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) which is assigned to the data set. The DOI was created using DataCite (www.datacite.org) and the California Digital Library, "EZID" system (n2t.net/ezid/).
