Summary of the data.

The data comprises multi-neuron responses recorded with silicon electrode arrays in the primary visual cortex of anethetized cats and awake monkeys.  The data have been grouped into two subsets: evoked responses (to various stimuli) and spontaneous activity.  Currently all of the available data are from the cat.  Later, the monkey data and the unprocessed data (continuously sampled spike and local field potential waveforms) will be added.  The available data includes:

Dataset 1: Multi-neuron evoked responses in primary visual cortex  
• spike times of ten (10) simultaneously recorded cells from a single penetration in cat area 17 in response to oriented drifting bars, spatiotemporal white noise, and a dynamic natural scene movie.
• code and movie frames for re-generating the stimuli, and stimulus meta-data.
• additional meta-data detailing the experimental setup, data acquisition, signal processing, spike sorting, etc.

Dataset 2: Multi-neuron spontaneous activity in visual cortex
• spike times of 25~50 simultaneously recorded neurons (75 cells in total) from two recordings in areas 17 and 18.
• additional meta-data detailing the experimental setup, data acquisition, signal processing, spike sorting, etc.

Format of the data.

Stimuli and spike responses are specified by files which are organized into a directory structure.  Both the directory structure and the file formats are documented in the "Data Overview" section (pages 8-9) of the Users guide (see bottom of this page).  Total data size (when uncompressed) is about 55MB.
