About v2-1
Summary of the data
This data consists of extracellular recordings from well isolated neurons in area V2 in awake behaving macaque monkeys. More details about the data can be found in:
Willmore BD, Prenger RJ, Gallant JL (2010). Neural representation of natural images in visual area V2. Journal of Neuroscience 30(6):2102-14.Format of the data
All data files (stimulus files, response files and a summary file --which contains metadata) are all stored in a format that can be read into Matlab, either directory (the summary file) or using Matlab functions which are supplied with the data set. Details are given in file crcns-v2-1-readme.txt. Total data size is about 30GB (compressed).
Restrictions
These data will only be made available to researchers who have demonstrated a valid University affiliation. Also, anyone who is given access to these data must affirm that they will not redistribute the data themselves. In any publications derived from the data, we ask that you cite the article given above.
How to download the data
Read the restrictions (above). If you believe that you have the requested qualifications and agree to abide by the restrictions, register on this site, then use the "Contact" link (upper right) to submit a request to obtain the data. Please include the following:
- Your full name.
- University affiliation.
- If a not a faculty member, include the name and email address of the faculty member you are working with.
- The name of the dataset (v2-1).
- A short description of what you will be using the data for.
- An statement affirming that you will not redistribute the data.
Upon approval (and not before) you will be able to download the data from:

Getting help using the data
If you have questions about using the data, please post them on the forum for using data sets or contact Jack Gallant (email address given in "CONDITIONS.txt" file included with the data set).
How to cite the data
In addition to the citation requested in in the Restrictions section (above), if possible publications created through usage of the data should cite the data set in the following recommended format:
Willmore, Ben D.; Prenger, Ryan J.; Gallant, Jack L. (2009): Extracellular recordings from area V2 of awake behaving rhesus monkey. CRCNS.org.

The above citation uses a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) which is assigned to the data set. The DOI was created using DataCite (www.datacite.org) and the California Digital Library, "EZID" system (n2t.net/ezid/).
